On the golden jubilee of independence, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially announced the entry of Bangladesh in the list of least developed to developing countries. He made the announcement at a press conference on Saturday afternoon with a virtual connection from Ganobhaban.


On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the Father of the Nation and the significant passage of Bangladesh in the 50th year of independence, the Prime Minister said, "After independence, all the destruction of Bangladesh was achieved." Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman started the work of rebuilding the country empty-handed

.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that the current development of Bangladesh is a source of hope and pride for the new generation. Sheikh Hasina said, "Bangladesh yesterday received the final recommendation of the United Nations for the transition from a least developed country to a developing country." We are fully qualified to be promoted in developing countries. It is a source of great joy and pride for the whole nation.


1. There are three indicators for determining eligibility per capita income, human resources, climate, and economic fragility.


2. In the assessment of 2016 and 2021, Bangladesh has achieved value in all three indices.


3. The United Nations Committee for Development Policy (CDP) made the recommendation after a five-day meeting on Friday night.


4. However, Bangladesh will have to wait until 2026 to get out of LDC.


5. The first least developed country was listed in 1971.


6. Bangladesh was included in this list in 1975.


7. If all goes well, after five years, Bangladesh will leave LDC and move to Qatar, another developing country.


8. This time, besides Bangladesh, Nepal and Laos have also been recommended to leave LDC.


9. Myanmar has achieved certain standards. But the CDP did not recommend Myanmar. The reason given is that the declaration of a state of emergency by the military could have a negative impact on development.


 In 1971, the number of least developed countries was 25, which now stands at 46. From the least developed countries, Botswana, Cape Verde, Maldives, Samoa, Equatorial Guinea, and Vanuatu have been able to cross.


Bangladesh will have to wait until 2026 to get out of LDC. Bangladesh will be a developing country from a least developed country.

In the assessment of 2018 and 2021, Bangladesh has achieved value in all three indices.
